In Acts 20:35 it says: "In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Have you ever given a really good gift only to find that the reaction of the receiver was far better than the gift itself? I remember a few years ago at Christmas I found myself searching for the perfect gift for my teenage cousin. I would stroll down the aisles of Target and fill my cart with "ideas" only to decide that I still hadn't found "it". Finally, after much searching, I found a super soft blanket with the very popular One Direction band members on it. "This is the one!" I thought to myself. I knew they were one of her favorites and took my selection to the checkout feeling excited to have found something she would hopefully enjoy. Our family Christmas party rolled around and I could hardly wait for her to open it. She took the gift that was wrapped like a giant piece of candy and enthusiastically started removing the paper. When she discovered what was inside she squealed with excitement and burst into tears of joy! Her reaction was priceless and one that I'll never forget! I had high hopes she would like the gift but I would have never dreamed just how much she did! It blessed my heart to see how much joy the gift brought her. The reaction she gave was far greater than the blanket that I had given.
I've always loved giving and that instant feeling you get in your spirit that rewards you like nothing else. Whether it be through a thoughtful present or a purchase from a philanthropic company, there is just something so special about being able to "give" that leaves you feeling thankful, grateful, and blessed.
